The Burlington County
YMCA Swim Team has offered high quality instruction combining
conditioning and technique to swimmers ages six through eighteen
for the past fifteen years. The team is consistently ranked among the
top YMCA teams in the country.
The Hurricane Swim Team began with the opening
of the Burlington County YMCA in June of 1991. In September of
the same year, the Canes, under the direction of Head Coach Bill
Sepich, began their first season. The Canes were well on their way
to becoming one of the most successful swim teams on the East
coast.
Since then the Hurricanes
have compiled a dual meet record of 97-1; including a win streak that
now stands at 96 in a row.
This translates to being the South Jersey Swim
League Champions
for the past fourteen years in a row. Their steady progress includes
the USA Swimming State Championship for the past
thirteen years. They have been in the top three at the YMCA State
Championships eight of the past ten years, topping that off with being
the 1998
and 2001 State Champions!
Even
more impressive is their steady climb in the East Field Regional
Meet. With an improved finish every season, the Hurricanes capped
the climb with the team
title
in 1998. After just seven seasons, the Canes were Eastern Regional
Champs! We repeated our Regional
Championship in 2001 and again in 2003. For the past eight years, the
Canes have been consistently the highest ranking team on the entire
Eastern Seaboard!
Over
the past thirteen years, the Hurricanes have had 222 National Qualifiers, 152 All - Americans and a countless
number of top
5 finishes at Regional Championships. The mighty Hurricane Legend
continues to grow strong, gaining the respect of the nation as
a respectful, fun, and fast swim team. The Hurricanes always
live up to their motto...
"SWIM FAST, HAVE FUN!"
