(4/9/09) The results from the YMCA Nationals can be seen here at the official website. It is really, really slow because a zillion people are accessing it at the same time. We downloaded each day's results, Mon, Tue, and Wed so far. There are Canes records falling by the bunch. On Monday, Sam Sides broke Laura Barolin's 50 Free record from 2001 by almost half a second with a time of 24.11. In the 200 IM, Courtney Sepich dropped Kaleena Laputka's 2001 mark by almost 2 seconds with a time of 2:09.09. On Tuesday, Cathy Howard lowered her 1000 Free mark by three seconds with a new record of 10:29.30. Courtney broke another record of Kaleena's, this time in the 200 Free, with a time of 1:55.64. On Wednesday, Courtney lowered her 200 Back mark with a new record time of 2:02.25. Well done ladies and well done, Canes!
(3/16/09) The results from the 13&O YMCA State Championship can be seen here (it looks like their website is now down). There were lots of great swims by the Canes with times dropping everywhere. In the 13-14 500 Free, Lizzie Manning shifted into overdrive and left the Blue70s in her wake as she became a state champion and knocked three seconds off her record with a new time of 5:14.56. Well done, Lizzie and well done, Canes!
(3/16/09) The JO results are here. The Canes did great with many of their best swims of the year. Brittany Parsons set two records, besting her own 11-12 100 Breast record with a new time of 1:11.64 and knocking 13 seconds off Lizzie Manning's 2006 400 IM mark with a time of 5:11.96. Fantastic swimming, Brittany, and phantastic job, Canes!

Actually, there were at least two records broken as Morgan Ley's nine year old record in the 11-12 Girls 100 Breast was bested by 11 year old Brittany Parsons with a new time of 1:12.51. She then knocked off one of the oldest Canes records, Rachel Weitz's 1997 400 IM time of 4:46.88, with a new record time of 4:44.24. Well done, ladies and well done Canes!

Announcements
(5/27/09)
Canes are always on the move, this time
to the Taj Mahal (no, not the one in AC, the real one in
India). We have a picture of Coach Bill sporting
his Canes-wear at the Taj Mahal. It was built by
the Shah Jahan for his deceased wife. Shortly
after being built, the Shah Jahan was deposed by his son
and imprisoned at the Agra Fort. So, in our
picture, we see Coach Bill in the jail cell with the Taj
Mahal in the background. We are always looking for more shots of Canes
all over the country and the world. On your next trip, take a picture wearing
your Canes
sportswear down the Shore, in
front of the Eiffel Tower,
White House, Big Ben, Mount Fuji,
(4/29/09)
The Hurricanes team gift, announced at last
night's banquet, is a team towel that should be arriving
in time for summer, outdoor practices in May in freezing
pools where extra absorbency and warmth will come in
handy.
(3/26/09)
The Hurricanes Team Banquet with distribution of
ribbons and medals, team gifts, a fond farewell to the
seniors, and lots of fun for the whole family is Tuesday,
April 28th from 5 pm to 9 pm at Prospector's in Mt.
Laurel on Rt. 38 so circle that date and
time on your calendar. The official invitation is
here and includes more
specifics about the banquet like RSVPing by April 14th.
(3/23/09)
With the website firewall re-secured by some Villanova
computer security experts, the background is back to our
normal blue water flow.
(3/19/09) BBQ
at the YMCA on Saturday (March 21st) from 10:30 to
1:30ish. Support the Canes' National Team by
eating lunch at the Y. If you're hosting a March
Madness party for 50 people, give Chef Bill a head's up
and he'll have your order ready for pickup. $10
will get you a half-rack of Fred Flintstone-sized ribs
or a half chicken. Both entrees come with a side
of macaroni salad. In addition, Chef Bill’s
authentic North Carolina pulled pork sandwich are going
for a mere $7.00!
(3/19/09)
The website firewall has been breached and an unknown
hacker has changed our background to a March Madness /
Duke Blue Devils theme.
(2/16/09) Spring
Warm-ups with Canes is just around the corner, woo-hoo!
Information can be found
here.
(2/2/09)
1. First, I apologize for the air quality in the pool on
Saturday. We can’t blame the new air handling system on
this one. It seems as though we were using a bad test
kit. The bad test kit resulted in false readings thus
putting more chlorine in the pool than was necessary. It
was not at dangerous levels but as you can see, it was
uncomfortable. The problem has been corrected and we are
back to normal. We apologize for the inconvenience.
(1/7/09)
We're going to open up the Guestbook once again.
Swimmers, coaches, friends, and family can post comments
for the team. Coach Bill jokes are always
welcomed.
(12/1/08)
For swimmers who are
looking for a nice present to give that loved one who
schleps you to practice week after week without
complaint, Canes sportswear is the way to go.
Whether it's a nice, toasty
sweatshirt for those cold January nights or a
polo
shirt for the sauna-like temperatures at
meets, there is something for everyone. Return
your order form to Coach Bill before midnight on Dec 5th
so that St. Nick can deliver a nice Canes present to all
of the good Moms and Dads and other family members.
(7/29/08)
There are quite a few
new members this year to the Hurricanes family. We
have a frequently asked questions
webpage that can
hopefully answer many of your questions.
(7/21/08)
Canes are always on the move, this time
to the only spot in the United States of America that a
Canes butterfly motion can cover four states with one
stroke. We are always looking for more shots of Canes
all over the country and the world. On your next trip, take a picture wearing
your Canes
sportswear in
front of the Eiffel Tower,
White House, Big Ben, Mount Fuji,
Taj Majal,
or at the Summer
Olympics,
use your
imagination for the
Traveling Canes.
