(11/27/07)  We have been asked by the Y to be part of their Christmas Celebration. We are building a few gift baskets to be placed in the main hallway. Members (including you) can enter the drawing to win the baskets by placing a ticket in the bag for the one they want to win. Each time you enter the building, you can get a ticket.

The 3 baskets we are building are:

1 with pet items for a dog

1 with pet items for a cat

     1 for kids aged 8-10

We are asking each 12&U family to donate something for the kids basket; each 13-14 family to donate something for the cat basket and each 15-18 family to donate towards the dog basket.  Please bring the items to Bill anytime between now and December 5.

As always, the YMCA, the Canes and I appreciate all you do. Thanks so much for helping with this cause.

ALL 13-18 YEAR OLDS MUST SWIM EITHER THE 500 FREE OR 400 IM AT THE STORM MEET.
2. Congratulations Canes for such a great fund raising effort at the BBQ Sale on Saturday. We sold 181 dinners and raised over $2400 for that new record board. Way to go Canes and a special thanks to Walt Fox for keeping us dry with the donation of his huge tent as well as to Bob Parsons for his very "special" gift.
3. We had a great Order Night last week and things went more smoothly then they ever have. Thanks go to Metro Swim Shop and to Brenda Maneri and her crew for doing such a wonderful job! Quality people make for quality events.
4. TIME TRIALS will be on Sunday Oct 22. All swimmers will be on deck at 6:30am for a 7:30 am start. Team picnic to follow. Wear your team colors and cheer very loud! The winning team gets to eat first!

(10/2/06) 1. Just a quick note to say that our Team Apparel Order Night is on Thursday of this week. Metro Swim Shop will be here from 4:00-7:00 for everything you need. Please keep in mind that ALL swimmers should have their own set of fins. Group I and II swimmers are encouraged to buy a freestyle snorkel. Also, everyone on the team needs to have the Team suit. There will be no ordering as Metro will have everything here that you need.

2. We could also use some help during order night. If you can spare an hour or two, please e-mail Brenda Maneri.

3. Also of note is our BBQ Sale is on Saturday. We will be serving our delicious BBQ Chicken and Ribs starting at 10:00 am and lasting till 2:00 or when the food runs out! Attached is a flyer for you to hang at work our wherever you think people will see it. Your help in advertising is appreciated. I will not need parent help with this as the 15-18 group has a work schedule to help. We need money for that new Record Board so come support the cause.

(9/25/06) 1. Thanks so much for the help that some of the older kids gave to Bill on Saturday feeding those less fortunate than us. The day was a big success with 850 meals being served. Way to go CANES!

2. We had a very good showing of parents at the meeting on Thursday. everyone should now be caught up on how to register for meets, the meet schedule, fund raisers and many more things to keep you going for the season.

3. Please note that no swimmer will be allowed to practice unless their membership and half the team fee is paid.

4. Keep your password in a safe place so you won’t loose it and keep a balance of over $20 in your Meet Entry Account.

5. Team apparel order night is Thursday October 5.

6. The big Hurricane BBQ Sale is Saturday October 7. More info to follow.

7. The GCIT Oktoberfest entry has closed. The meet is October 14-15 and more info will follow as we get closer to the meet. Entries are still open for the Storm mini meet as well as the Storm Harvest meet.

8. Please note the practice schedule changes.

9. Saturday Aerobics went great and we look forward to more from our hard core aerobics teacher!

(9/18/06) Each Monday, and possibly more often depending upon the time of year, Coach Bill will be providing a weekly update.  Here's the first:

  1. Welcome to all our New Canes. We are happy to have you as part of the Hurricane Family.

  2. If you came from another USA Swim Club, your transfer release form went home last Friday.  Please return these by Wednesday of this week.

  3. The meet entry process will be the same as last year.  Directathletics (see Meet Entries link in left column) will be our online registering system once again.  GCIT Oktoberfest will be up this weekend and you will need to use your password to enter.

  4. Your Meet Entry Account MUST have sufficient funds in it for you to enter a meet.  If you need to set up your account or if you need to know your balance, please e-mail Coach Bill (or ask him about it at the parent meeting on Thursday).
